Do you think you shoot photos in the celebration of life?
Of course. That’s what the answer to every question has been based on—the positivity.
Where do you see your photography going?
Hopefully, in some more magazines and art galleries.
Have you had any shows with your photography?
I was in one recently at Monster Children in Australia. That’s a start. Baby steps.
What do you feel when you show your work? Is there any sense of fear about not being accepted?
I’m not worried about not being accepted. I get nervous. I want everybody to be happy when they see my photos. You can’t please everybody, but that’s the general idea. If I’m in a show, I want to feel confident and good about it, but that stuff is kind of nerve wracking. I haven’t really shown my work, though.
Do you feel secure behind the camera? Are you hiding behind it?
Yeah. I like to be on the other side of the camera.
What do you want out of your photographs?
I want people to enjoy them.
Do you want them to enjoy them? Or do you want people to have a reaction to your work?
When I first take a photograph it’s for me.
So that’s selfish. [laughs]
Come on man, you’re trying to sabotage me. [laughs]
I’m not!
When I first see the photograph, it’s for self satisfaction. When I see the photograph and it feels good, I want to get it out there and have other people see it and appreciate it or react to it. It’s not like I take photographs to be appreciated. Fuck that. I take them because I want to get a positive feeling out of other people that see it.
Do you think you’ll be continuing to learn about photography through your whole life time?
I hope so.
What is next for your photography?
Hopefully, I can travel with my friends and shoot photos. I don’t have any definite plans. I just want to keep shooting and get my photos out there for more people to see.
