Living Proof Magazine Issue 4: Adam Wallacavage

What was your early decorating like, and how did you work?

I was into collections and crazy clutter. I was obsessed with 50’s and 60’s design, motel signs in Wildwood NJ, the Wacky Shack on Hunt’s pier, and especially the Munsters.

What were your earliest decorating influences, and how did That work shape yours?

The cartoons by Charles Addams, old churches, and Victorian haunted houses.

Who are your favorite decorators?

Santa Claus, Wicked Witches, Saddam Hussian. Come to think of it, rich evildoers usually have an interesting design sense.

Why are you so into interior decorating as an art?

An interior is a way of completely surrounding yourself in some sort of artistic expression. Old dark elaborate churches are my favorite places.

Do you use any technology, materials, or references in your interior decorating that would surprise us?

You mean like baby skin? Yes, I use baby skin as well as dolphin blood. Is that surprising? No, just plaster and epoxy resin.

Everyone knows how much of a decorating guy you are, but what are some of your non-decorating influences?

Attracting pretty girls and making my exes who dumped me jealous and regretful. Isn’t that the most powerful inspiration of all time?
