Non-Native New York Exhibition Call For Submissions

From the press release:
Brooklyn’s immigrant artists are welcome to enter this exhibition celebrating the borough’s cultural diversity.

Non-Native New York opens its call for entries to immigrant artists who have made Brooklyn their home. Non-Native New York is a curatorial project that celebrates the cultural and artistic contributions immigrant artists are making that have largely been overlooked. Through an exhibition, a catalog, an evening of artists talks, and a project website, Non-Native New York will serve as a platform for under-represented artists to reach a larger audience, and to create a community conversation around the immigrant experience.

Artists from varied backgrounds and art experiences are invited to submit their work, including emerging artists, hobbyists with little or no formal art background, as well as artists with many years’ experience. The project curators are looking for artwork that comes from a fresh perspective. Deadline is May 14, 2010. Submission information and entry form can be found at www.nonnativenewyork.com.
