Eric Joyner “Donut Logic” At Corey Helford Gallery

This past weekend, Corey Helford Gallery opened a new show by Eric Joyner called “Donut Logic.” The solo exhibition from the San Francisco based artist adds a new piece to his decade long exploration of donuts and robots. The metal machines expose themselves a little, showing their secret lives by sporting tattoos, balancing careers and family life, and opening up their hidden desires. “I think the robots in my paintings reflect how a lot of us act and feel,” says Joyner of his work in the show which includes twenty oil on panel works, including a rare portrait of a female robot from the classic science fiction film Metropolis, dressed as a geisha posing in front of a cherry blossom tree. The exhibition is on view until September 1st. Anybody else think Kook Keith might have been on to something with “I’m Seeing Robots?”
