Peter Saville and Ben Kelly Design Tony Wilson’s Headstone

Over three years after the passing of legendary broadcaster and Factory Records founder Tony Wilson, the memorial headstone has been put into place at the Southern Cemetery in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Manchester. The reason for the long delay? The headstone was designed by Peter Saville, who handled a large amount of the design for Factory Records, and Haçienda designer Ben Kelly with Paul Barnes and Matt Robertson. The headstone is made of thin black granite and features a quote, which is set in Rotis, that comes from The Manchester Man, a 1876 book by Mrs G Linnaeus Banks.
