Cleon Peterson “White Flag” At Joshua Liner Gallery Preview

Last week, we pointed you towards the opening of Cleon Peterson’s new exhibition of works at Joshua Liner Gallery “White Flag.” Now, with the exhibition set to open tomorrow, we bring you a preview of about half the works featured in the show. Working on a very large scale, Peterson brings the theme of surrender and struggle through a multitude of paintings, some done in a panel format. These vignettes each offer the viewer the disturbing, uncomfortable feeling associated with viewing violence. However, the difficult subject matter lends itself to introverted thoughts of how each one of use perceives violence in the world and how we are exposed to it.

The exhibition opens tomorrow, May 17th and runs until June 11th. See a selection of the work below.
