Top tips for cleaning a NuCore flooring

The Nucore flooring has a durable outer layer that serves as an inexpensive flooring. Major scratches or dents may form if you use an aggressive cleaning agent. Let us dive into how you can clean any Nucore flooring without damaging it.

Placing a doormat

A doormat stays in front of the room and stops all dirt or chemical from entering the room. If you are a homemaker, you should teach everyone to enter the room, rubbing their feet on the doormat first.

Using a broomstick

A broomstick takes away most dust particles, which can result in vinyl flooring damage. Cleaning the house floors with a broomstick also stops dust from entering your nose and cause allergies.

Sweeping regularly

Keeping it clean is the key to long-lasting vinyl flooring. It is better to start from the corners and end the sweep near the door space.

Good cleaning agent

Try using cleaning agents that don’t bleach off the NuCore’s outer layer. Shampoo, dish cleaners, or regular soap can do just fine.

Pour a few caps of shampoo or other agents on a gallon of water to use it with a mop. You can also mop and rinse the vinyl flooring if you don’t have a sweeper.

Avoid harsh chemicals

Unfortunately, cheap and harsh chemicals like chlorine bleach, detergent, etc., are not suitable for vinyl flooring. A rough mop or sweeping cloth may work better than a vacuum machine.

  1. I have used harsh chemicals on it before reading this and unfortunately I have white marks all over the floors. Is it too late for me how do I fix this

    1. Well, Ashley, you can effortlessly brush white marks away by trying out baking soda paste. Use a toothbrush to apply the paste on the affected area with enough pressure to lift the white spots away. Once you get the job done, use a damp rag to eradicate the remnants of baking soda paste. Hope, it will work.

  2. Shampoo is mentioned. There are so many varieties: conditioning, clarifying, medicated, sulfate free…. what’s best?

    1. Thanks Suzi Kostal,
Not every type of shampoo will work in the same way and with similar effectiveness over NuCore flooring. Among all, Sulfate-free shampoo seems to consist of a neutral PH balance and a good amount of moisture. Such factors will clean your Nucor flooring safely and give it an additional shine as well. This would be the best pick for cleaning NuCore flooring.

  3. We had red dye run onto the floor from a christmas tree skirt. We cant seem to get it off the floor. What do you recomend?

    1. Thanks Mark Duhon,
Dip a soft cloth or the tip of a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol, then use that to blot the stain, then blot it using the vinegar diluted in water. Let the stain dry.

You can use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean, and then you can soak up the mineral spirits or turpentine with a cloth or Q-tip. Rinse completely and dry the floor.

If there is still a stain on your NuCore floor, mix baking soda and water (should be pastelike) and lightly scrub the stain with the solution.

After staining the stain, blot it with a nail polish containing acetone and then apply wax to the area once the stain is wiped away.

    1. Hi Laura Sailer,
Yes you can use pine sol. And steam mop is not recommended for regular use. Because the PVC and glue react with high heat.
Its better to use a microfiber spray mop.
