Cinders Gallery Presents: 100 Records By Sonny Smith
Artist and musician Sonny Smith embarked on a very ambitious, massive, year-long project called 100 Records that will culminate at Cinders Gallery tonight, August 12th. For the project, Smith invited 100 artist to each product a 7″ record sleeve for a fictitious band. And that’s not all. Smith developed the persona for each of these bands, then recorded one song for each band ranging from pop, concept ideas, spoken word, instrumentals, surf, garage, folk and rock n roll. Along with the display of all the record covers, there will be a homemade, custom-built jukebox playing all 100 songs. 100 Records ‘Volume 1’, a limited edition of 40 box sets including reproductions of 12 of the art covers, with a CD of 16 original songs inside, will also be available.
