Ryan McGinley “Life Adjustment Center” At Ratio 3
Way back in September, we tipped you off about Ryan McGinley’s upcoming solo show, Life Adjustment Center, at San Francisco’s Ratio 3. Well, now that the show is fast approaching, as in it opens on October 29th, we can give you a little more information. We surmised that it would include some of his recent studio portraiture work, and we were correct, with a new series of black and whites that capture intimate moments between the subject and photographer, but some of them add a sense of improbability by posing the nude models with live animals. Kinky. Or maybe not. The second half of the work shown is classicly McGinleyan, with brightly colored photographs of unpredictability. A 44 page monograph published by Dashwood Books will accompany the exhibition.
