Robbie Busch “Chick – A – Boom” At Mighty Tanaka
From the press release:
Drop the lights, cue the music and prepare to be entertained by beautiful women and fantastic artwork. With the shake of the tassels and the twirl of the pasties, this exotic dance teases the senses and ignites the soul. Burlesque dancing is making a come back in popular culture, rising from the underground to once again find itself in the spotlight. Mighty Tanaka is happy to bring you “Chick – A – Boom,” a series of paintings and photography by Robbie Busch as he mixes a dual interpretation of Burlesque through both the literal and the artistic.
Have it be the stroke of a paintbrush or the focus and click of a camera, the multi-talented Robbie Busch has been providing NYC with his artistic interpretation for a number of years. “Chick – A – Boom” is a compilation of mediums based on the risqué underground Burlesque movement. With a thought provoking approach to his solo show, Robbie Busch juxtaposes photographs and paintings in order to immortalize this blossoming resurgence.
“Chick – A – Boom” pays homage to the intoxicating dance form with a selection of artwork that reflect the significance of this growing movement. As Burlesque further emerges from the underground, Robbie Busch flexes his artistic muscles, presenting work that is representative of the time and the era.
The exhibition runs April 15th through May 6th.
