Andy Warhol Polaroids At University Of California Berkley Art Museum
Currently on view at UC BAM/PFA is a selection of Polaroids from Andy Warhol. Serving as the basis for his commissioned portraits, silk-screen paintings, drawings, and prints, a majority of Warhol’s Polaroid photos were unseen. Now, thanks to the Andy Warhol Foundation, the Polaroids have been donated to colleges and universities, each receiving over 100. The collection currently on view at UC BAM/PFA reveals that superstars were not the only figures that Warhol photographed with his Polaroid Big Shot, the distinct plastic camera he used for the majority of his sittings. Over half of those who sat for him were little known or remain unidentified.
On view until May 20th, 2012.
